Richard Garet/Brendan Murray – Of Distance – CD – Unframed Recordings

www.unframedrecordings.net
Another sublime offering from the Richard Garet camp, this time Garet combines forces with Brendan Murray to release Of Distance – two long form soundscapes that have been some three years in the making. The two pieces, In Parallel, and The Tyranny of Objects are object lessons in subtly contrasting formats and approaches. In Parallel, [...]

Emilee Lord – VISUAL ARTIST

http://www.emileelord.com
I have only recently encountered the visual works of Emilee Lord, an artist based in the U.S., but I am already touched and excited by these unique visual motifs. Lord’s work, though not entirely minimal, has minimalism as it’s essence, homing in on traces, remnants, shards, the detritus and minutiae left by human activity. Like [...]

URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT

It is with regret that I have to announce that the WHITE_LINE review site is going to wind down as of the end of March. It is a decision that I have not taken lightly, as the last three years have seen the popularity of the site growing steadily, with hit stats currently exceeding 300 hits per week. However, in order for me to successfully continue with WHITE_LINE EDITIONS, and my own recording projects, Level and FOURM, it has been neccessary to jettison the review activities in order for me to focus on the recording projects.Over the last year particularly, the amount of material coming in has greatly exceeded my abilities to do justice to the fruits of your creativity. I also feel that my reviews have suffered in quality as a result of trying to keep up with the many CD’s that come my way, and that I cannot physically give releases a fair listen, and therefore a fair and accurate review.  PLEASE NOTE:  Any material reaching me AFTER March 29th is not guaranteed to get a review on WHITE_LINE, but worthy material may get a mention until the site closes.

On the flip side of that news, I have just agreed to do some writing and occasional reviews on an ad hoc basis for the wonderful TOKAFI online magazine [www.tokafi.com],  where I will be writing and commenting on releases, with my continuing passion for all things minimal. This will be something that I hope to do on a regular, or semi-regular basis, and I still look forward to hearing news and interesting releases from the labels that WHITE_LINE has worked with, so please do keep the CD’s coming, but don’t expect reviews, as I wish to start writing features and essays relating to the scene, it’s labels and personalities
.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support and enthusiastic responses to my reviews, and I hope that we can continue to work together to help the electronic/minimalist scene survive and thrive.
